100% Garnacha von 40 – 65 Jahre alten Reben, 18 Monate in neuen Barriques aus französischer und amerikanischer Eiche ausgebaut.

Alkoholgehalt: 16 Vol.%

Tiefschwarzes Rubinrot mit violetten Reflexen. Konzentriertes, voll fruchtiges Bukett nach Amarenenkirschen, Cassis, Holunder, Vanille, Mineralien, mediterrane Gewürze. Am Gaumen opulente Fülle und Souplesse und wieder eine geballte Ladung Frucht, balsamische Noten, Kaffee, Kakao, Kieselstein und frische Brotkruste. Das Tannin ist noch robust und darf noch etwas nachreifen. Das Finale ist einfach Grande und extrem lang nachhallend. Trinkreife 2008-2020.

Der Jahrgang 2006 wurde noch nicht bewertet. Bewertung des 2004er Jahrgang: 95 Punkte Robert Paker, Wine Advocate #175, Feb 2008: "The 2005 Alto Moncayo is a selection of older Garnacha vineyards. Purple colored, it is more expressive aromatically with enticing aromas of pain grille, spice box, floral notes, black cherry and black raspberry. Richer, more layered, and intense, this superb effort has a 60+ second finish. Give it 2-3 years to unfurl and drink it through 2020." Drink 2010 - 2020 $38-$50 (48)

93 Punkte Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar, Sep/Oct 08: Deep ruby with a bright rim. Impressively complex, seductive bouquet of dark berry preserves, tobacco, graphite and smoky Indian spices. Pliant black raspberry and candied cherry flavors are enlivened by zesty minerals and firmed by fine-grained tannins. An exotic floral pastille quality emerges with air and carries into the finish, which is strikingly sweet, lively and persistent. I can't believe that this wine bears the touch of the same guy who is partially responsible for inflicting Australia's R wines on us.
