Der 2020er präsentiert sich als „Signature-Asset“ für anspruchsvolle Bordeaux-Portfolios: tiefes Rubin bis Purpur, im Duft dicht verwoben aus Schwarzkirsche, Cassis und Pflaumenmark, flankiert von Mokka, Espressoröstung und feiner Würze. Dahinter schimmert kühler Kalkstein-Charakter durch – diese mineralische Präzision wirkt wie das Controlling im Hintergrund: nicht laut, aber entscheidend. Am Gaumen großzügig und seidig, mit sattem Extrakt und reifer, polierter Tanninarchitektur. Die Frucht bleibt dunkel und konzentriert, wird aber von Frische, Gewürz und einer subtilen, leicht rauchigen Barrique-Kontur strukturiert. Der Abgang ist lang, vielschichtig und bleibt aromatisch „on brand“ – ein Wein, der in der Jugend beeindruckt, seine Marge aber klar in der Reife ausspielt.

The medium to full-bodied palate delivers decadently intense, exotic spice and mineral-accented black fruit flavors, supported by velvety tannins and seamless freshness, finishing very long and very perfumed. This is without doubt one of the most impactful, singular, nuanced 2020 barrel samples tasted. "

"The 2020 Tertre-Rôteboeuf is stunning. It's not quite the 2016, but it comes awfully close. Who knows in time where this will go? A vibrant, explosive Saint-Émilion, the 2020 Tertre-Rôteboeuf sizzles with tension and energy. Black cherry, gravel, spice, espresso and chocolate stain the palate with tremendous intensity and sheer nuance. Tightly wound and full of energy, the 2020 is simply magnificent. What a wine!"

Loads of crème de cassis, kirsch liqueur, tobacco, white chocolate, espresso, and violet notes emerge on the nose, and this full-bodied beauty has a wonderful sense of balance and elegance, present tannins, and a great finish. It's going to be a relatively accessible vintage from this great estate, yet I would bet on it evolving for 25 years or more."
