80% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18 Monate in neuen Barriques aus französischer Allier-Eiche ausgebaut.
Alkoholgehalt: 14,5 Vol.%
Sehr dunkles Purpur mit blauvioletten Reflexen. Intensives, volumiges Bukett, reich an saftigen Brombeeren, Kirschen, Cassis, feinwürzigen Kräutern, zarten Eichenholzaromen. Saftige Gaumen, tolle, saubere Frucht, tänzerisch vielschichtig. Das Tannin ist jugendlich, aber perfekt integriert. Ausgesprochen langes und beeriges Finale. Trinkreife 2018-2031. Unbedingt mehrere Stunden dekantieren.
94 Punkte Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #238 Aug 2018: "A superb vintage in the region has produced a great 2014 Reserva, a wine where they select grapes from the soils with more limestone within their estate. A blend of 80% Tempranillo with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, it has good ripeness, power and freshness, coming through as a textbook Reserva. It's still young and lively after an élevage in French barrels (40% of them new) for some 20 months. This was inspired by some wines from Bordeaux, even though it has a somewhat more Mediterranean profile. My guess is maybe they didn't have the precision in the harvest date they seem to have achieved in 2015, as I tasted this next to the regular 2015 Hacienda Monasterio. The palate of this 2014 is better than the nose at the moment. Sisseck compared 2014 to 1995, an almost perfect year in the region. I see this as a slightly riper version of 2010. 35,415 bottles were filled in September 2016.
This time I tasted the new releases from Hacienda Monasterio with the winemaker, Peter Sisseck. Despite their young age, they are one of the most classical expressions of Ribera del Duero. Their 98 hectares of vineyard in the estate are now 100% certified organic. Furthermore, they have changed the winery to have smaller fermentation tanks now that the vineyard is older (they think it finally came of age around 2008). They promise the best is yet to come... They think 2017 could be their best year ever, but yields were catastrophic, as terrible frosts in April decimated the harvest. The average annual production is around 220,000 bottles."T
